Living Independentfrom Tobacco (LIFT)

Advancing Tobacco-Free Living Through LIFT

The Living Independent from Tobacco (LIFT) project shares the belief of the California Tobacco Prevention Program and many others working in tobacco education throughout the State: All individuals have the right to be protected from the dangers of secondhand smoke (SHS) where they live, work, and play.

Meeting LIFT Goals

LIFT will use the following strategies to achieve these goals:

  • Conducting educational outreach and policy building infrastructure,
  • Collaborating with funded agencies throughout California,
  • Building relationships with key stakeholders,
  • Developing region and population-specific educational materials, using local and culturally relevant media and newsletters to inform the public of project activities and increase local support,
  • Using strategic planning sessions with target groups and local tobacco control advocates, and providing technical assistance to assist with the creation and implementation of smokefree policies.

LIFT Partners

  • The Tobacco Education Clearinghouse of California (TECC) is a statewide technical assistance (TA) provider that supports the development and distribution of effective educational materials and social media messaging for CDPH and CTPP-funded projects at no cost.
  • RISE supports rural tobacco projects by leveraging resources, providing leadership training and opportunities, and offering educational materials specially designed to assist rural communities.
  • The goal of Tobacco Free Trinity is to encourage a tobacco free Trinity County through education, community engagement, and leadership opportunities
