Healthy Communities Free from Secondhand Smoke
The Communities Addressing Nicotine (CAN) project shares the belief of the California Tobacco Prevention Program and many others working in tobacco education throughout the State: All individuals have the right to be protected from the dangers of secondhand smoke (SHS) where they live, work, and play.
About CAN
CAN is a project funded by the California Tobacco Prevention Program from July 2025 to June 2028. The project works to support tobacco control efforts to have least three jurisdictions in Lake, Trinity and/or Modoc counties adopt and implement a policy that 1) prohibits smoking and vaping from multi-unit housing complexes and 2) eliminates smoking in all outdoor areas without designated smoking areas or distances.
