Our Mission
The Partnership for Health Equity and Inclusion (PHEI) aims to create healthier, more equitable communities through developing and implementing public health programs and policies that address the Social Determinants of Health.
Advancing Equity Through Community-Driven Support
PHEI grew out of a need for services and resources to be delivered to underserved communities in order to increase economic, cultural, racial, and health equity. We work with marginalized communities by leveraging culturally competent, multi-lingual community-based education, advocacy, and program/policy resources for low-income, low literacy, and multi-cultural populations.
A Community-Driven Nonprofit Advancing Public Health and Environmental Equity
PHEI is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization that works independently and in community-based partnerships to address a wide range of public health and environmental issues including childhood injury prevention, tobacco/nicotine use prevention, climate change/environmental equity, heart and lung disease, nutrition, public safety, and reproductive health. All of our work is done with the goal of equity and inclusivity for all we serve.

Our Specific Objectives and Purposes
PHEI’s purpose is to find practical and effective community-based responses to “social determinants of health”, such as race, gender, income, access to healthcare, educational opportunities, and social isolation. We do this by linking efforts to other local community concerns as identified by local community members (such as fire safety, affordable childcare, drug abuse/mental health issues, employment opportunities, and environmental degradation). This practical approach attempts to make change at the population level by creating social (educational) plus policy (advocacy) campaigns in which an entire community or population changes its definition of what is normal and acceptable behavior whether it is tobacco control, food security issues, climate change challenges, or child safety issues. PHEI advocates for change on a community-wide rather than simply individual level.
In order to address social determinants of health PHEI seeks to achieve the following goals:

To promote and improve public health.

To improve public safety.

To promote and provide public and professional education and technical assistance.

To conduct and manage research.

To meet the emerging challenges of public health through sustainable social policy initiatives.
